EG4’s Monitoring to be Integrated with Lumin Smart Panel

Lumin Smart Panel

EG4 Electronics is proud to announce the integration of our inverters’ monitoring API capabilities with Lumin’s Smart Panel. Soon homeowners will be able to use the Smart Panel to leverage real-time data from our inverters and optimize their energy loads effectively.

“Customers have been requesting a system that works with their inverters in both off-grid and on-grid scenarios, allowing them to control each smart circuit individually,” Director of Product Management at EG4 Markus Jackson said

EG4 will be the first company to offer off grid inverters that work with Lumin’s Smart Panel. Our 6000XP inverter, for example, can communicate and switch contacts with Lumin’s Smart Panel just like the 18kPV.

From Whole-Panel Control to Circuit-Level Precision

After integration of EG4’s API with Lumin’s Smart Panel, it will enable customers to come with different use cases. For example, it will know when the inverters are in backup mode, indicating a loss of grid power. It can then set the system to start load shedding on each circuit of the smart panel based on your configuration, like keeping refrigerators running during power outages.

Currently, the smart panel and EG4 API integrates cloud-to-cloud, giving it access to individual battery status,” Director of Software Development Gaurav Shah said. “This includes information like state of charge and battery capacity, as well as other details about the energy storage system’s operating status.”

Our inverters have a smart load option that controls the whole panel, while Lumin’s technology allows for control of the individual circuits, which offers granular control at the individual circuit level.

“Previously, you could only turn the entire house on or off,” Shah said. “Now, you can target and control individual circuits, which is essential for load shedding or peak shaving.”

Optimizing High-Energy Appliances During Power Outages

One example of using our integrated solution is if you lose grid power and don’t want your HVAC running constantly, you can set it to run every hour or two to save battery life. This feature is invaluable during extended power outages or severe weather conditions, allowing homeowners to manage critical loads such as HVAC systems, water heaters, and other high-energy appliances,

“During a storm with an unknown power outage duration, you can manage each load individually to minimize battery usage, potentially making it last a week,” Jackson said. “For instance, you can adjust your hot water temperature to 98 degrees instead of 103 to save energy. This allows for precise control over simple, high-energy circuits.”

With API functionality, you’ll know the battery status and decide whether to optimize load or energy usage.

“In the next release, you’ll be able to control when to charge or discharge the battery, allowing for better scheduling,” Shah said. “Sometimes using the grid makes sense, like before a storm when you want to ensure batteries are fully charged.”

Customizing Your Energy System for Optimal Efficiency

At EG4 Electronics, we are committed to helping our customers manage their energy usage as much as possible. The integration of our monitoring software with Lumin’s Smart Panel allows homeowners to enjoy a more efficient, reliable, and resilient energy management system tailored to their needs.
