EG4® BMS Terms and Conditions

THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY TO THE USE OF THE EG4® BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS). BY USING THIS PRODUCT, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT AND CONTACT EG4 ELECTRONICS FOR RETURN OPTIONS.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the EG4® Battery Management System (“BMS”), a component of EG4 battery systems designed to monitor and manage lithium-ion battery performance. By purchasing, installing, or using the BMS, you (“Customer” or “You”) agree to these Terms. EG4 Electronics (“EG4,” “We,” or “Us”) reserves the right to update these Terms at any time, with notice provided via our website (eg4electronics.com).

2. Professional Installation

The EG4 BMS is designed to be installed only by licensed, trained, and insured solar electrical installation professionals. Installation by unqualified individuals may result in damage to the BMS, battery, or connected systems, and voids any warranties. EG4 disclaims liability for any issues arising from improper installation. You agree to seek professional assistance for installation and to comply with all local codes and regulations. Installation advice provided by EG4 is for general education only and does not replace professional expertise.

3. Use and Safety

The EG4 BMS must be used in accordance with its manual, available at eg4electronics.com/downloads. You agree to:
  • Use the BMS only with compatible EG4 batteries (e.g., LifePower4, LL-S, WallMount) and inverters as specified in the manual.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity).
  • Not modify, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the BMS hardware or software, including firmware or communication protocols (e.g., RS485, CAN).
  • Update BMS firmware as recommended using EG4 BMS Tools or BMS Test software.
Failure to comply may result in system failure, safety hazards, or voided warranties.

4. Warranty

The EG4 BMS is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period specified in the product manual (typically 5-10 years for EG4 batteries, which include the BMS). This warranty is void if:
  • The BMS is installed or used improperly.
  • The BMS is modified or repaired by unauthorized personnel.
  • The BMS is used with incompatible equipment or in conditions outside specified parameters.
No warranty is provided for used or Grade B products unless explicitly stated. EG4 disclaims implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose or merchantability, to the extent permitted by law. Contact EG4 support for warranty claims.

5. Liability and Indemnification

EG4 is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or misuse of the BMS, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, or loss of data. You agree to indemnify and hold EG4, its affiliates, and employees harmless from any claims, losses, or damages related to the installation, use, or failure of the BMS, including legal fees.

6. Communication Protocols

The EG4 BMS supports communication protocols (e.g., RS485, CAN) for integration with inverters (e.g., Sol-Ark, Victron, Growatt) via the EG4 LiFePOWER4 Communications Hub or direct connections. You are responsible for configuring protocols correctly (e.g., “P06-LUX” for LL-S batteries, “EG4” for older models) and updating firmware as needed. EG4 is not responsible for communication errors due to incorrect settings, outdated firmware, or incompatible equipment.

7. Intellectual Property

The BMS contains proprietary software and firmware owned by EG4. You may not copy, distribute, or reverse-engineer any software or firmware. Access to BMS settings (e.g., via BMS Tools) may require passwords, which EG4 may restrict to protect system integrity.

8. Returns and Refunds

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may return the BMS within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, subject to EG4’s return policy. Contact support@eg4electronics.com for return instructions. Returned products must be unused, in original packaging, and free of damage.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the BMS shall be resolved in the courts of Collin County, Texas. Both parties waive the right to a jury trial.

10. Contact Information
